Changes in China after Covid-19 response shift

2022-12-29

In December, China is gradually  removing the mandatory policy of testing for Covid-19 and related outbreak control policies throughout the country.

According to a statement released by the National Health Commission on Monday,China will manage COVID-19 with measures against Class B infectious diseases, instead of Class A infectious diseases. Starting from January 8, China will cancel PCR tests for international arrivals, the need to obtain COVID green codes from Chinese embassies abroad and quarantine on arrival.

However, the impact of the epidemic on China will still be significant for a short period of time. Because of the end of preventive and control measures, cases of Omicron infections are spreading rapidly in China. According to the PTS operation team, since last week, factories in many regions are facing a decrease in capacity due to lack of staff. Companies in large cities such as Beijing and Shanghai have 40-50% of their staff needing to work from home.

This suggests that the impact of the outbreak on most manufacturing companies will continue for some time. For better production orders and quality management, please stay tuned to PTS for updates.
